The One Without The Translator
[There's a two headed man recording himself in the third floor common room. The hair on both of his heads is a little longer than it normally is, and they are both clean-shaven. His smaller head looks less like it has been repeatedly punched in the face, but they still aren't completely identical.
They are wearing a toga.
It has been expertly folded and tucked around them, like fabric origami. They're also heavier, although it's hard to tell in the toga. The long neck stalk the smaller head is attached by is entirely uncovered, and the result is...a little phallic.
They both look confused. They turn to each other. The larger head turns back to the camera and says:]
#*^))i>%*~?
[Which roughly means something like 'Greetings. What in the fuck?', but you can also use your imagination.]

«Sounds like you're a little lost too there, [Appropriate Nickname relating to plant sprouts in Scrad's language].»

**Too?**
[Scrad's larger head asks.]

«I don't really get what we're doing here. ["We" is inclusive, a little different from the symbiont version of it.] But you're the first guy I've seen from [metaphor for being from the same area], so to speak.»
[Considering they're a few light years away.] «I used to be part of Earth's refugee and immigration program.»

[The head that would have called itself Charlie asks. They don't really have any impression of Earth, and that lack of impression certainly doesn't include transport ships. Scrad declares:]
**That's fine.**
[They aren't picky. They also weren't planning on bailing from the homeworld again, but now that the opportunity is in front of them, they're suddenly very aware of how much they still want off.]

[He notices how not upset he is, though.]
«You're not feeling [something between homesick and lost]?»

[Scrad admits.]

**What's there?**
[They know nothing about a lot of things, and Earth is one of them.]

[Those are in English, because he doesn't have a translation for them.]
«It's the little things that make it nice. Everyone talks about how primitive Earth is, but it's just a society with its baby toys. It does young, dumb things. But it's quaint. It's nice.» [He addresses Charlie in his next statement. «They have candy of a size that you can eat, in case you two don't like the same thing.»

Both of their heads slowly cock to the side, and they stare.
In case they don't like the same thing.
It has never occurred to them that they might not like the same thing. They aren't sure it's actually possible to not like the same thing. But the idea is at once terrifying and incredible, and it's in their heads now, and they aren't sure they'll ever get it out. That's the kind of thinking their people would use as an excuse to lock them up indefinitely. Danger to themselves and others and all that.]
**What are they like?**
[Scrad asks. He means humans, not candy. But you can also tell them what candy is like in this size of which you speak. It sounds fun.]

[When this flood is over, he'll be surprised at how positive his notions of humanity were for a while. Maybe because he didn't want his coworkers to set the standard.]
«You might wanna look and see if you have something to cover part of that neck up. It looks like one of our [various sexual organ comparison goes here.]»
no subject
Both of Scrad's heads twist to stare at their neck-stalk, and then back at Kay incredulously. Because now they think all Earth men must be huge. Good job, Kay.
When this flood is over, they'll just be embarrassed.]

**[A word which means both I and we while not actually meaning either] will...think about this.**
[But they probably won't come to any sort of decision about it, because the more things change, the more they stay the same.]
