The One With No Good-Byes [Video]
[The boys are standing in front of a Barge-normal door. You know what that means kids...]
Our warden flew the coop.
[Scrad announces flatly. Charlie sarcastically adds:]
Big surprise.
[Actually, it is. They liked Drake; thought he was an okay guy. Trusted him, kinda. Almost. This hurts.
Don't expect them to admit that, though.]

[Scrad confirms.]
Can't count on anybody but yourself.
[Charlie suggests.]
But what else is new?
[Scrad concludes, rhetorically.]
Video
Very true. At least some things never change?
Video
Yeah, it's always comforting to get screwed.
[Charlie snarks.]

[Scrad mutters. He's aiming for who cares. He's getting there, but you may be able to tell that he's aiming.]
no subject
Oh.
[That same sort of weird distracted, uneasy tone. He's feeling some fail!father now, so that's probably the most he's going to say. This is the worst he's felt since he tried to start socializing again.]

[Charlie repeats, stretching out the word disrespectfully.]
That's really helpful.
[Scrad says.]

[Narvin is also emotionally stunted. But at least Drake graduated so Narvin can be fairly confident that when the Barge punted him off at least he's alive back in his world. Still, Drake was his first successfully graduated inmate and now he's gone.]
You had reason to think he would leave?
no subject
[Scrad says. Charlie hooks a thumb at themself.]
Yo.
[They are a great reason to leave. Totally hopeless. Get out while you still can, everyone.]

Sometimes they vanish, and come back with memories missing, and sometimes they begin to remember you again, and sometimes they don't.
[COMFORT, THY NAME IS PREFECT.]
The point is, normally, I think when someone leaves without saying goodbye, that means they didn't plan on leaving.
